History of the development of the Sumo Fluorescent Tube Crusher

It was in the early 1990’s when the crushing unit was developed to combined two waste streams into one. By utilising empty clip top oil drums for the containment of crushed fluorescent tubes.

“But how do you get a 6 foot glass tube into a drum with a 2 inch hole in the top?”

With a fabricating background and the knowledge of environmental legislation. It was possible to design and fabricate a working model, for crushing fluorescent tubes which could be collected and stored safely.
